Brunei Visa
Foreign nationals traveling to Brunei Darussalam must choose among the different types of visas, depending on the purpose of their visit. A tourist visa is required if one is visiting Brunei purely for leisure travel. A business visa is required if, at any time during the visit, one intends to engage in any business transaction or commercial activity. A transit visa is required when a visitor enters Brunei en route to another country. A work visa is issued to travelers who are being paid for work with an entity within Brunei. Finally, an official or diplomat visa is required when one is visiting Brunei on official business.
For American citizens, a transit or tourist visa is not required for a stay of up to 90 days. A business visa is not required for a stay of the same duration, as long as the purpose of the trip is none other than basic business meetings.
However, foreign nationals entering Brunei for employment should obtain a work visa and employment pass prior to arrival in this destination. Spouses and children of employment pass holders traveling with the latter must obtain dependents" passes.
A diplomat or official visa is required for all foreign nationals entering Brunei on official business. Applicants should submit a passport valid for six months beyond the stay, completed visa application form, a recent 2x2 passport type color photograph with plain/light background, Official Letter of Support from the US Department of State, proof of departure, and medical requirements.
