Visa Information for Kazakhstan
All foreign nationals who wish to enter or
travel to Kazakhstan
must apply for a visa; further, all applications should be accompanied by a letter of invitation from a registered Kazakhstan organization or a Kazakhstan-based institution. However, travelers from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America, and United Arab Emirates do not need to submit an invitation letter.
All applications are approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan and are coursed through the Kazakhstan Embassy in your resident country. Visas can also be issued by the Russian Embassy if there is no Kazakhstan Embassy in your country.
There are two types of visas issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the tourist visa, which is valid from 1-3 months; and the business visa, which can be valid from one month to one year. The cost of a Kazakhstan visa can be as low as $80 USD for the single entry tourist visa to as high as $600 USD for the multiple entry business visa with a validity of one year. Diplomatic visas, however, are free of charge.
A special note when
traveling to Kazakhstan
: you must register your visa within three days upon arrival in the country, which can be done at your hotel or the local police precinct.
