Turkmenistan Visa
All foreign nationals need a visa to
enter Turkmenistan
and should be obtained prior to arrival in the country. United States citizens can obtain visa application forms from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington, D.C. Visa applicants should submit two application forms together with their signed original passport, which must be valid for at least six months from the date of departure.
A visa applicant traveling as a tourist should contact any
travel agency in Turkmenistan. A visitor who is meeting anyone in the country should present a letter of invitation from the person or company to be visited. The letter should be certified by the State Foreign Citizens Registration Service of Turkmenistan. If a visit to Turkmenistan is for more than three months, the visa applicant should also submit an HIV certificate. Visa applications should also include two passport-size photos glued to the application form and a self-addressed, stamped envelope or pre-paid courier package. Visitors on official business like diplomats, government or United Nations employees, or members of an international organization participating in duties as official representatives are required to secure an Official Visa, which shall be valid for a maximum stay of 365 days. All visa applications should also include two passport-size photos glued to the application form and a self-addressed, stamped envelope or pre-paid courier package.
Normal processing time for a visa to Turkmenistan is 5-10 business days. Visa applicants who want to expedite the processing period to three business days may do so by including an additional 100% of the cost of the visa in the payment.
