Uzbekistan Visa
All foreign nationals need a visa to
enter Uzbekistan
for tourism, transient stopover, or business reasons. Citizens of the United States may apply for a visa online or with the Republic of Uzbekistan mission in New York. There is only one application form for all types of Uzbekistani visas. Tourist visa applicants should submit a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity, a recent passport-size photograph, a completed application form, a self-addressed prepaid return envelope with postage, and the visa fee in the form of cashier"s check or money order. For multiple entry visas, an official letter of invitation issued by the Immigration Department of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Internal Affairs is an additional requirement. Tourists may stay for a maximum of 90 days.
Business visa applicants should submit the same documents. However, the official letter of invitation should be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uzbekistan. The consular office issues both multiple-entry and single-entry business visas upon receipt by the Embassy of confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, a written request for visa issuance should be submitted by the inviting organization in Uzbekistan to the Consular Department of said Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The inviting organization may be a government office, embassy, representative office, or the like. Business travelers may stay in the country for a maximum duration of 90 days. U.S. citizens who are former Uzbekistani citizens applying for an Uzbekistani visa must formally relinquish their Uzbekistani citizenship and surrender their Uzbekistani passports before applying for a visa.
