Cheap Flights to Poland

Highlights of Poland

Poland offers its tourists breathtaking scenery from wonderful parks and lakes in the north, to wilderness areas, skiing, and hiking locations in the mountainous regions in the south. Travelers often come to Poland to see some of the most well preserved monuments that have survived numerous wars.

Getting to Poland

A cheapest way to fly into Poland is to book a flight departing from other cities in Europe such as London, Frankfurt, Paris, or Amsterdam by using budget carriers such as EasyJet, Wizzair, Germanwings, or Ryanair, among others. This flight will most likely land at the Okecie International Airport in Warsaw. From there, the traveler is advised to take another flight to their destination or find an alternative mode of transport. Using the same budget airlines, cities such as Poznan and Kujawsko-Pomorskie are accessible and are cheaper alternatives than Warsaw and Krakow.

Airports

The major airports in Poland are located in Krakow and Warsaw. These receive the most international and domestic flights daily and have the greatest number of travelers passing through. Besides having the busiest airport and being the Polish capital, Warsaw is also proud of its heritage and modern developments. Krakow draws greater crowds for its well-preserved architecture. Other airports include Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Gliwice, Katowice, Lodz, Poznan, Rzeszow and Szczecin. Many of these cities have an extensive history and magnificent scenery that the traveler can enjoy.

Airlines

Poland has a total of eleven airline carriers that cater to either domestic or international flights or both. LOT Polish Airlines is the official airline carrier for Poland and is based in Warsaw. It has a total of 60 active aircraft, including its subsidiary Eurolot, able to carry 46-243 passengers depending on the type and model of the aircraft. Air Italy Polska was also established in Warsaw but it is a charter airline, catering to tour operators. Flying primarily to the airports of Katowice and Poznan, this carrier has only one aircraft in its fleet but is able to carry 250 passengers at one time. Jet Air, with a fleet of five aircraft, has domestic and international flights. Aerogryf, with only three aircraft in its entire fleet, is a more specialized carrier offering services relating to cargo and agriculture. Another Warsaw based carrier is Centralwings, a budget airline that only flies in and out of Poland with no domestic flights. Sprintair has a fleet size of nine aircraft but caters only to domestic flights. The carrier White Eagle Navigation caters to both passengers and cargo.

Other Money-Saving Tips

Although Poland is a great place to visit at any given time, July and August are the busiest months. In order to take advantage of cheaper prices when booking flights, do some research and compare rates. Booking several weeks in advance and taking flights that leave midweek are some of the more conventional money saving tips. Research what is considered as the peak season and off-season for the country.

In Closing

Poland is a land filled with a proud heritage while attempting to modernize along with the rest of Europe. Historical monuments that have survived several wars are well preserved and are wonderful places to see. Travelers will enjoy seeing these landmarks up against the majestic landscape of Poland.
