The main international airport is Keflavik International Airport, about 30 miles to the west of Reykjavik. Domestic flights, flights to/from Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and flights for business travel operate from the Reykjavik Domestic Airport. Some international flights land at the Akureyri airport.

The main airlines of Iceland are IcelandAir and Iceland Express, part of the IcelandAir Group. IcelandAir's fleet consists of Boeing 757-200, 757-200PF, 757-300, 300ER, and 787-8; and operates to 25 cities in 12 countries. Iceland Express operates to 17 destinations in Europe. Its fleet consists of Boeing 737-700 and 737 Next Gen.

The cheapest route from Ireland to Iceland is via Ryan air from Dublin to London, and then a connecting Iceland Express flight. IcelandAir operates regular flights to London, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Manchester, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Boston, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, and Toronto (seasonal). During summer, flights are to Barcelona, Bergen, Berlin, Gothenburg, Halifax, Helsinki, Madrid, Milan and Munich.
