Hotels in Bhutan

Called at times as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon", Bhutan is considered one of the most isolated countries in the world years ago. But tourism is making inroads to Bhutan including the rise of four-star and affordable hotels such the Uma Paro, Taj Tashi Hotel, and the Amankora Hotel Thimphu.
Uma Paro is a retreat to silence. Sitting on a hill, the hotel features a yoga studio for students of Eastern mysticism. The motif of the hotel is a mixture of modern and traditional designs made by local artisans. From there you can either go on foot or by bike to the woods that had inspired mystics and monks.
Taj Tashi is a luxury hotel that has the most number of rooms in Bhutan. Get to taste food from a wide range of influences including Indian, continental and Chinese. Original local Bhutanese cuisine is served as well. You also get to relax at Taj Tashi's Indian healing spa.
Amankora Paro perches 2,520 meters above sea level. Its suites feature huge stones that have grown into the walls. At such height you can get a panorama of Drukyel Dzong and the snow-capped Jhomolhari. The villages nearby are great sites for trekking as they take you through a tour of fabled places. Amankora Hotel Thimphu, on the other hand, is in the middle of a pine forest in the steep parts of the Thimphu Valley. Amankora Thimphu is one of the newest hotels in Bhutan, and one of the most budget friendly accomodations.
Little is known of Bhutan for the longest time. It was King Jigme Singye Wangchuk who brought the country to the limelight. Elusive snow leopards are believed to be found on Bhutan's Alpine slopes.
