Ningbo is served by the Ningbo Lishe International Airport (NGB). The airport once served as a landing field for military aircraft but has since handled civilian flights beginning in 1984. Today, the airport is one of the busiest airports in China, handling over three and a half million passengers each year. It is also experiencing healthy growth, enjoying an annual rate of nearly 18% for its passenger traffic.
