Travel Guide to Paris

Airports Serving Paris, France

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is the main airport in all of France. The host to more than 100 airlines, both flagship carriers and low-cost carriers, flights into CDG are numerous, offering a wide choice of fares and connection cities. The airport is undergoing major modernization and renovation through the year 2012, so some inconveniences may be experienced, though these have been minimized for passenger convenience as much as possible. Ground transportation includes the RER, which is a suburban rail network offering transport to central Paris at least four times an hour. The TGV is a high-speed rail line offering service to many other French cities. A convenient shuttle operates between terminals, while a bus departs from terminals one and two, proceeding non-stop to Paris.

Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) was the main international airport before CDG. It still is highly popular, though it is eight miles south of Paris. Its international service is restricted to North America, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East. Housing two terminals, domestic flights here are popular for business travelers so as to avoid the international congestion of Charles de Gaulle. Orly is also connected to the RER, with a tramway link planned for the future. Three busses offer regular service to Pairs, while the A6 autoroute is readily accessible.

Paris Beauvais Tille Airport (BVA) is a much smaller airport than CDG or ORY, but is a favorite for those seeking cheap fares to Paris. Wizz Air, Ryanair and Blue Air are the low-cost carriers that call BVA home. Located about 37 miles from Paris, the trip can take an hour. A shuttle to the city center and a railway station with eight routes a day are your best options for ground transportation. A free shuttle bus into town, with the Beauvais Train Station providing connections to Paris, is the most commonly used means of transport to Paris. Mini-busses and shuttles also are available to Paris and Disneyland Park.
