Major Airports Serving Panjim

There are no airports inside the city of Panjim but there is one airport just a few kilometers away and still inside the state of Goa. Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI) is the nearest available international airport to Dabolim, just 1.3 miles (2.09 km) from Panjim. The airport is a civil enclave operated by the Indian Navy Airports Authority of India and has one runway and two terminals, serving both domestic and international flights.

Domestic flights are served by airlines such as GoAir, Indian Airlines, IndiGo Airlines, Jet Airways, JetLite, Kingfisher Airlines, MDLR Airlines, Paramount Airways and SpiceJet. These flights connect to only about ten other Indian airports from Dabolim.

Most international flights are serviced by the two state owned airlines, Air India and Indian Airlines but lately, other airline companies have been permitted to fly scheduled international flights including Air Arabia, Condor Airlines, Flydubai, Indian Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Novair, Qatar Airways, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways and Ural Airlines. Some European destinations are only available seasonally. There are also chartered flights available and among those that offer these flights are Air Berlin, Air Italy Polska, Arkefly, Novair and Thomsonfly. These flights go to and from many countries in Europe such as the United Kingdom and Russia.

More Information on Panjim

Panjim is the English name for Panaji, the capital of Goa state in India. The city used to be a Portuguese colony and became a part of Goa when Portuguese rule ended there. The city was renamed Nova Goa, or New Goa in Portuguese, when it took the place of the city of Goa, known today as Old Goa, as the Portuguese India's administrative seat.

One of the most frequented places in Panjim is 18th June Road, a shopping area where tourists and even locals visit a lot. Miramar Beach is also another recommended attraction to visit located right outside the city.
