Recife's airport, Guararapes International Airport (REC) is rather large and very state of the art. In 2008, it served over four and a half million passengers. It services both international and domestic flights and is located next to the ocean. Taking a taxi into town usually will be very inexpensive, as the airport is located only 14 km from downtown.
