Airports serving Tokyo, Japan
Narita International Airport (NRT) is located in Narita, Chiba, Japan in the eastern portion of the Greater Tokyo Area. Most traffic through this airport is international and it was once known as New Tokyo International Airport. Northwest Airlines and Virgin Atlantic are the two low-cost carriers that offer service from the U.S., Asia and London-Heathrow. Two railways, JR East and Keisei currently operate out of the airport, with a third under construction and scheduled for completion in 2010. Busses and taxi service are also available to the city.
Tokyo International Airport, more commonly know as Haneda Airport (HND) is also located within the Greater Tokyo Area. Mostly utilized for domestic travel, Haneda has seen a rise in international traffic with the addition of scheduled 'charter' flights to Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Expansion to include more international flights is in Haneda's future. Both the Keihin Kyuko Railway and the Tokyo Monorail service the Haneda Airport, while Friendly Airport Limousine and Keihin Express Bus are options for the Bayshore Route of the Shuto Expressway.
