The Hobart International Airport (HBA) serves the city. Originally named Lanherne Airport, it is located near the Cambridge Aerodrome, Llanherne, and Mount Rumney. The airport is about17 km to the east of Hobart. The airport opened in 1956 replacing Cambridge Aerodrome. It was privatized in 1998 and is now operated by Hobart International Airport Pty Ltd. No direct international flights are offered to Hobart International Airport.
