Airports serving Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Toronto Pearson International Airport, also known as Lester B. Pearson International Airport or simply Toronto Pearson (YYZ) is the primary airport serving Toronto. The busiest airport in all of Canada, it hosts numerous low-cost airlines, including Air Transat, Skyservice, Sunwing Airlines, US Airways, American Eagle and Westjet. More than 50 airlines have regularly scheduled service into and out of YYZ. Ground transportation is also readily accessible. You can choose between rental car, bus, taxis, limousines and the Union-Pearson Rail Link.
John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport or Hamilton International (YHM) is located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Close to 50 miles from Toronto, this airport has experienced a flux of low-cost carriers. Currently Flyglobespan, SATA International and WestJet all offer limited, seasonal service. Classified as an airport of entry, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers can only handle aircraft with no more than 250 passengers, unless passengers deplane in stages. Unless you have family in this area, this airport is not recommended for vacation use due to its limited ground transportation.
Toronto City Centre Airport, a.k.a. Toronto Island Airport (YTZ) has long been the center of controversy. Porter Airlines wishes to expand its usage, while the City of Toronto and community groups would like to reclaim this land as park area. Porter Airlines currently has service out of Boston, Newark and Chicago-Midway in the U.S., as well as numerous domestic Canadian flights.
