Winnipeg is the capital city of the province of Manitoba, and is located at the geographic center of North America. The city is surrounded by water at a location known as "The Forks", where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet.

Winnipeg is the cultural capital of Manitoba and each year the city showcases many festivals including the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, the longest and second largest festival in North America of this type. Many are not aware that the famous A.A. Milne character "Winnie-the-Pooh" was actually named after this city.
