Arlington, Virginia is home to the Ronald Reagan International Airport (DCA). The closest airport to Washington D.C., this public airport was originally named the Washington National Airport, changing its name in 1998 to honor the former president. From this airport, US Airways and Delta offer almost hourly shuttles to New York City and to Boston, respectively. Your ground transportation options are probably the most widely varied of just about any airport in the U.S. The Metrorail, Amtrak and Greyhound Bus operate from the airport. You also have the option of chauffeured services, shuttles, taxis and rental cars. DCA even has six bicycle racks located in various strategic locations. On-airport rental counters include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. Enterprise has an off-airport location.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is located in Linthicum, Maryland and is 30 miles northeast of Washington D.C. Southwest, from numerous locations, Northwest Airlines from Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul and JetBlue Airways from Boston provide the bulk of low-cost flights to BWI. Public transportation in the form of light rail, Amtrak and the MARC can quickly get you into the heart of D.C. Busses are also available, as are taxis and rental cars. BWI has a consolidated rental car facility about ten minutes from the airport and serviced by a complimentary shuttle service. Avis, Alamo, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty all have rental counters at the facility.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located about 25 miles west of the central business district of Washington D.C., in the city of Dulles, Virginia. United Airlines has its east coast hub here and handles 62% of the traffic.
