Travel Guide to San Diego

Airports Serving San Diego, California

The San Diego International Airport (SAN) is located about three miles from the business center of the city. Numerous shuttle vans and busses operate from the airport and are conveniently located near each terminal. The Transportation Plazas also have taxi stands with your choice of five cab companies. Amtrak Intercity and Coaster commuter trains offer service to downtown San Diego and counties as far away as Los Angeles and Orange County. A Metro Bus line, trolley service and limos are also popular cheap forms of transportation to famous landmarks or to the downtown area. You must use a shuttle to get to the rental car company of your choice. Shuttles run regularly from the Terminal 1 center traffic aisle and from the traffic island at the far west end of Terminal 2. Car rental reservation boards are located near the baggage claim areas in both terminals, along with a courtesy phone to request shuttle service.
