Travel Guide to Baltimore

Airports Serving Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), formerly Friendship Airport, is the main airport in Baltimore. The airport is located approximately 10 miles south of Baltimore and 30 miles north of Washington D.C. BWI offers a variety of dining and shopping opportunities, as well as your choice of transportation to and from the airport. Taxis, limos, light rail, Amtrak and all of the major rental car companies have representatives in the airport.

Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (DCA) is located three miles south of the business center of Washington D.C. and just 29 miles from Baltimore. Often an alternative to BWI, it is the nearest commercial airport to D.C. US Airways operates a shuttle, almost hourly, to LaGuardia in New York City and Logan in Boston, so if your vacation or business includes city-hopping, you might want to stay in one of the fine hotels near DCA.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), is also an alternative option when flying to Baltimore. Located in Chantilly, VA, only 26 miles from Washington D.C., and 47 miles from Baltimore's city center, it is the home to almost a dozen US Flagship Carriers and two dozen international carriers. United Airlines has its hub here. Ground transportation includes taxi, bus, rental car, metro rail and shuttle service.
