San Jose

Travel Guide to San Jose

The Norman Y Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the premier gateway to San Jose, the third largest city in California behind Los Angeles and San Diego. The airport is located two miles from the heart of the city, and is frequented by travelers that don't want the hustle and bustle of the two larger airports that the greater San Fransisco bay has to offer and that like the close proximity to downtown San Jose. For those that want more opportunities for cheaper flights to San Jose, the airport has just recently remodeled and added a new terminal to accommodate more flights, some from major economy airlines. Most of the destinations are U.S. Domestic, but there are a few located in the Caribbean, Canada, and Mexico.

The cheapest flights to San Jose can be found late October through March, during the area's rainy season and hotel deals are also prevalent during this time period while the summer months of June through August typically have the highest fares. Also, because of its location to Silicon Valley, watch out for the dates of some of the more prominent local technology conferences and check local sites to determine when local hotels may be booked due to these conferences. Be sure to arrange you trip midweek, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because of frequent business fliers, who make the prices on traditional days favored by the business travelers high. If San Jose is not your final destination, consider catching a connecting flight at one of the other larger area airports.
