Detroit

Cheap Flights to Detroit

Detroit is the United States' gateway to Canada and the location of the busiest airport in the state of Michigan, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, which serves as a hub for two major airlines, Northwest Airlines and Spirit. Most of the flights out of DTW are domestic and Caribbean flights with select passages to South America and Western Europe. There are also seasonal flights available to a lot of smaller airports throughout the northern United States and Canada as well as linked flights to many other cities in the region via smaller aircraft. The terminals have been newly refurbished or expanded greatly within the last decade, as has the on-premise hotel. Concourse A within DTW is the second longest terminal in the world at over one mile so be sure to leave time between connecting flights to reach your boarding gate.

Due to Detroit's northern location and proximity to the Great Lakes, getting a cheap flight is most likely during the off-season which is from November to April. Because of Detroit's many business centers and central location to many large cities in the Midwest and Canada, flying on days that are not favored by business class travelers such as Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is also advised. If Detroit is not your final destination, make sure you have a passport ready if you are planning on traveling to nearby Canada since as of June 1st 2009, all U.S. residents and those abroad need a passport to enter Canada.
